In 2007, after coveting Paloma for 2 years, Francie let this girl come home with me. I have been honored with a strong connection with this 4 legged soul and Francie honored me with allowing her to come live with me. I proudly share this lovely girl with Francie.
Paloma is very unlike my other dogs. Watching her is like peeking in a window at a marvelously gentle soul, playing a delightful dance of hide and seek. She wiggles and dances when she sees me, then hides very still where she stands, then peeks out from whatever thought she was hiding behind and dances and prances to see me again. She is in a constant state of joyfully discovering her world; a world woven by the intelligence, softness, sweetness and caring that are the essence of her existence.
Paloma is my southern lady, always an ethereal dreamy vision of love and grace and beauty. She’s always sweet, demure and very concerned as to what everyone is thinking. (Including the judge… this girl so surprised me by loving to show!) Invariably she’s dressed in her long sweeping feathers. She has an exquisite art-deco typiness and is extreme in every inch of her body, from her spring of ribs to her skinny waist (or maybe not so skinny these lazy days), from the depth of her chest to her wonderful tuck up, from her long sweeping tail and angular rear to her arching expanse of neck and delightfully expressive head. She fills my eyes like a piece of art and my heart with the wonder of her love. Last but not least, she makes me dream of how thin and young and beautiful I must look walking next to her!
Both of Paloma’s parents have passed from this world by terrible accidents and are missed for their personalities, beauty and bloodlines. Aitanga was much beloved by Francie and was not only beautiful in her own right but threw some outstanding offspring. Denali, her father, was one of the dogs I have met in my life that I will never forget. His presence was silent and strong….almost mystical in ways. The few times I spent with him touched me greatly. I am thrilled to have both these dogs in the background of the breeding I do.
We had wonderful breeding plans for Paloma this past year. Life got too busy and time passed too quickly. If the breeding Gods permit, Paloma will be bred in 2010. I await her pups with great excitement and joy. And if she never gets bred, she will fill my heart regardless.
